Terms of Service &
Legal Information

Terms of Service:

Last updated: September 2026

These Terms of Service apply to private tuition, academic mentoring, university admissions support, coaching, educational consultancy and related services provided by Anthony Boutall, sole trader ("I", "me" or "my").

The person agreeing to purchase the services is referred to as the Client. Where services are provided to a student who is not the Client, references to the Student mean the person receiving the tuition, mentoring or other support.

1. Agreement

The precise nature, frequency, duration and price of services will be agreed with the Client before services are provided.

An agreement may be made by email or other written communication.

These Terms should be read alongside any specific arrangements agreed in writing. Where a specific written agreement expressly varies these Terms, the specifically agreed term will take precedence.

2. Services

Services may include:

  • private academic tuition;
  • Oxbridge and other university admissions preparation;
  • interview preparation;
  • personal statement and application guidance;
  • academic enrichment and supercurricular study;
  • mentoring and coaching;
  • examination or entrance-test preparation;
  • educational consultancy; and
  • other related educational services agreed with the Client.

Services will be provided with reasonable care and skill.

3. Fees and payment

Fees will be communicated to the Client before the relevant service is booked or provided.

Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due in accordance with the invoice or payment instructions supplied to the Client.

The Client is responsible for ensuring that payment is made by the stated due date.

Where a package of sessions or programme is purchased, any additional terms concerning payment, expiry or use of those sessions will be communicated before purchase.

4. Cancellations and rescheduling

I understand that circumstances sometimes change.

Unless otherwise agreed, Clients should provide at least 24 hours' notice if they need to cancel or reschedule a booked session.

Where less than 24 hours' notice is given, I reserve the right to charge the full fee for the session, except where I agree otherwise in exceptional circumstances.

If I need to cancel a session, I will endeavour to provide as much notice as reasonably possible and will offer to rearrange the session or, where appropriate, refund any fee already paid for that session.

Persistent lateness, cancellations or non-attendance may result in services being discontinued.

5. Online sessions

Where tuition, mentoring or consultancy is delivered online, the Client or Student is responsible for having a suitable internet connection, device and environment from which to participate.

If significant technical difficulties on my part prevent a session from taking place, I will arrange an alternative session or appropriate refund.

Where difficulties arise from the Client's or Student's equipment, internet connection or failure to attend, the session may be treated as having taken place, depending upon the circumstances.

6. Students under 18

Where the Student is under 18, the Client will normally be the Student's parent or guardian.

The parent or guardian remains responsible for the Student's welfare and supervision outside the scope of the agreed educational service.

Appropriate professional boundaries will be maintained in all communications and sessions.

Communication concerning bookings, fees, significant changes to arrangements or material concerns will normally be directed to, or copied to, the parent or guardian where appropriate.

Nothing in these Terms prevents information being disclosed where I reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect a child or another person from harm or where disclosure is required by law.

7. Academic integrity

My services are intended to help Students develop their own knowledge, reasoning, confidence and academic abilities.

I will not knowingly complete assessed work on a Student's behalf, impersonate a Student, provide answers for use dishonestly in an examination or assessment, or assist with plagiarism or other academic misconduct.

Advice on personal statements, written work and applications is intended to support the Student in developing and expressing their own ideas and experiences authentically.

I reserve the right to refuse any request that I reasonably believe would involve academic dishonesty or breach the rules of a school, examination board, university or other institution.

8. University applications and academic outcomes

I will use reasonable care and skill in providing academic and admissions support.

However, examination grades, interview performance, university admissions decisions and other academic outcomes depend upon many factors outside my control.

I therefore do not guarantee:

  • any particular examination or assessment result;
  • an interview invitation;
  • an offer from Oxford, Cambridge or any other university;
  • admission to any particular course or institution; or
  • any other specific academic outcome.

References to previous results or successful students describe past performance only and should not be interpreted as a guarantee of future outcomes.

9. Educational materials

I may provide notes, worksheets, reading materials, presentations, questions, lesson plans or other resources as part of the services.

Unless otherwise stated, materials created by me remain my intellectual property and are supplied for the Client's or Student's personal educational use.

They must not be sold, published, uploaded publicly, distributed commercially or substantially reproduced for third parties without prior permission.

This restriction does not apply to materials owned by third parties, which remain subject to the rights and terms applicable to their respective owners.

10. Recording sessions

Neither the Client nor the Student should record an online or in-person session without obtaining my prior agreement.

I will not record a session without appropriate prior notice and agreement.

11. Confidentiality and privacy

Personal information will be handled in accordance with my Privacy & Cookies Policy.

Information shared in connection with tuition, mentoring or consultancy will be treated with appropriate confidentiality, subject to legal obligations and circumstances in which disclosure is reasonably necessary, including safeguarding concerns.

12. Ending services

Either party may end an ongoing arrangement by giving reasonable notice.

I reserve the right to discontinue services immediately where there is:

  • abusive, threatening or seriously inappropriate behaviour;
  • persistent failure to pay agreed fees;
  • a serious safeguarding concern;
  • a request to participate in academic dishonesty;
  • a serious breach of these Terms; or
  • another circumstance that makes continuation of the professional relationship unreasonable.

Any outstanding fees for services already provided remain payable.

13. Consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or restrict any rights that a consumer has under applicable law.

Where a Client enters into a contract remotely, including online, by telephone or by email, statutory cancellation rights may apply.

Where the Client asks for services to begin during a statutory cancellation period, the Client may be required to pay for services properly supplied before cancellation, to the extent permitted by law.

Any statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted remain unaffected by these Terms.

14. Liability

I will provide the services with reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to those qualifications, I am not responsible for losses caused by matters outside my reasonable control or for decisions made independently by schools, examination boards, universities or other third parties.

Nothing in this section affects the Client's statutory consumer rights.

15. Changes to arrangements

Any significant change to an agreed service, including changes to fees or the nature of an ongoing programme, will be communicated to the Client.

Updated Terms may apply to future bookings. Changes will not retrospectively remove rights already acquired by a Client.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights that a consumer may have to bring proceedings elsewhere.
